I'm Alyssa!
I love the details in life, coffee and a good book, "useless" information, car karaoke and trying new recipes. So, whether you're here to explore my photography or just to chat, I'm glad you stopped by.
Who I am
I wear a few different hats—I'm a photographer, a wife, foodie, crafter, a baker (candle stick maker), former Vice President of the MPPA, and a sports mom of two awesome kids. My husband and I have been partners in crime for over 15 years. After 9 years in Virginia and 8 years in Maine, we decided to flip the script (coast) and moved our traveling circus to Washington. You can usually find us at someone's soccer and swim practice or enjoying a cozy movie or game night.
How it started...
As a sports parent, I noticed the sideline was always filled with distracted parents recording their kids for other people. I wanted nothing more than to change that for them. I started covering every game I could to gain skills and game knowledge (honestly, some grit too), and offered my gameday coverage to parents free of charge. After a few seasons and a reputation, I noticed a huge shift in how parents engaged during games knowing that they could be more present. Entrusting me with the stress of capturing plays and key moments and allowing them the opportunity to scream as loud as they could.
My first dip in to the professional photography world was assisting Maines #1 wedding photographer at over 40 events all across New England. Teaming up with other photographers around the state and further expanding my management and lighting skills. Details, flat lays and editorial shots were always my favorite to set up and build.
In 2023 I was offered a seat on the MPPA Board of Directors and in 2024 I became VP and Chairman of Programming. My focus had been on how best to support my community and offering education options to photographers of all skill levels. Bringing in educators and speakers to help Maine photographers keep up with an ever changing and growing profession. Serving my community and uplifting fellow artists has been an extremely rewarding experience, which I hope to bring to the PPW.
